I have talk about things I have done and places I’ve been, and about the thrill of it all.... But back in the recesses of my mind and kind of vivid is that ever present pondering of – I would have liked to have been there and done that.... The pre-courser, is a mental image of a tattered travel flyer with the following promotional script: Especially for the adventure in all of us. Wow, that could be me.
Shovel Tours Mid-Summer 0000
Dig-It-Up Rendezvous is pleased to announce its 85th Annual Trek to some yet to be determined destination, with sand included - a three-week seminar-and-spade adventure into the past. All clothing and equipment is supplied. You have a chance, dressed in shorts, t-shirt (for women), men can go bare-chested and a bush hat, to dig holes in select areas of hard ground throughout an ancient land.
Spend days on end in the back of dark, dank caves, carefully exhuming decomposed bones from ages past. Hike though the high-noon sun to a spot where you can uncover the garbage heap of and ancient town. Here you will discover the excitement of 3000-year old throwaways, including broken clay and tiny slivers of stone. You will learn that anything you cannot readily identify is a ceremonial object, and that the ancients filled 100 percent of their lives with religion. Sift sand through a strainer and cart rock across mesas. Bring your own suntan lotion. Dine daily on peanut butter sandwiches for lunch, beef jerky and a non-logoed cola for dinner.
Prices for the tour have not yet been set and vary with the quality of tent selected.

Maybe this would be a good year to live the dream of a lifetime. Or, maybe I’ll just ponder a bit more....
